April 27 – “The wisteria has passed its best viewing period.”
The peak of this year’s wisteria viewing was on Tuesday, April 21.
Although this period is usually when the flowers enter their best condition, this year warm early-summer temperatures caused the peak to arrive 3–4 days earlier, resulting in a shorter viewing season.
As of this morning, the somewhat strong rainfall has caused many flowers to begin falling from the clusters.
The late-blooming white wisteria is still at its best.
The Omurasaki azaleas at the garden entrance are blooming vividly with excellent flower coverage.
We look forward to your visit.
The next update is scheduled for Thursday, April 30.
April 24 – “The 1200-year-old and 800-year-old wisteria are now about 90% in bloom. The best viewing period is nearing its end.”
This year, warm early-summer temperatures affected the flowers early in the peak period, resulting in a shorter viewing season than usual.
On the sun-exposed surfaces of the trellises, flowers have begun to fall from the clusters and the color is fading, indicating that the peak has passed.
In shaded areas, the wisteria is still holding its best condition and continues to bloom.
This situation is expected to continue through tomorrow, but after that the flowers will begin to fall from the clusters, so we recommend visiting as soon as possible.
The late-blooming white wisteria began its best period about a week earlier than usual and is expected to remain at its best through this weekend.
The azaleas throughout the garden, including the late-blooming white variety, have also reached their peak and are blooming vividly.
We look forward to your visit.
The next update is scheduled for Monday, April 27.
April 22 – “The 1200-year-old wisteria is about 80% in bloom, and the 800-year-old wisteria is around 90% in bloom.”
Due to the strong, warm sunlight, the flowers have rapidly progressed to 80–90% bloom.
In sunny areas, the peak has slightly passed, while in shaded areas the wisteria is still at its best and continues to bloom beautifully.
This year, even within the same trellis, there is a noticeable difference between sun and shade.
The late-blooming white wisteria has also begun its best viewing period about a week earlier than usual.
